Trelk ("the App") is developed and maintained by Nuno Fonseca ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.
We do not collect any personal data. The App:
All content you save, notes you write, and knowledge you build in Trelk is stored exclusively on your device in a local database. This includes articles, highlights, notes, embeddings, review history, and AI-generated insights. We have no access to this data.
The App uses on-device machine learning models to generate summaries, discover connections, and power search features. All AI inference runs locally on your device. No content is sent to external AI services unless you explicitly configure a third-party AI provider in the App's settings, in which case data is sent directly from your device to that provider under their own privacy policy.
If you choose to enable cloud sync, your data is transmitted directly from your device to your personal cloud storage account. We do not operate, intermediate, or have access to these cloud services. Your use of these services is governed by their respective privacy policies:
When you share content from the App (e.g., exporting a collection), the data leaves your device only through standard operating system sharing mechanisms that you initiate. The Community Collections feature fetches publicly available reading lists from a GitHub repository; no personal data is sent from your device to GitHub beyond standard HTTP requests.
The App does not integrate any third-party analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The only network requests the App makes are:
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the App does not collect any personal data from any user, it is compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent regulations.
Because your data never leaves your device (unless you enable cloud sync to your own accounts), the security of your data is managed by your device's operating system encryption and your cloud provider's security measures. We have no servers that could be breached.
Since we do not collect or store any personal data, there is no personal data for us to provide, correct, or delete. You have full control over your data on your device and can delete it at any time by uninstalling the App or clearing its data through your device settings.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
