By downloading, installing, or using Trelk ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes on devices you own or control, subject to these Terms.
Trelk is a personal knowledge management application that runs on your device. It allows you to save, organize, review, and explore articles, papers, notes, and other content. The App processes your content locally using on-device AI models.
The App is free to download. The free plan lets you save up to 50 items and excludes cloud synchronization. Trelk Pro is an optional one-time in-app purchase that removes the item limit and enables cloud synchronization. Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) and are subject to their terms, including their refund policies. Trelk Pro is tied to the store account used to buy it and can be restored with "Restore purchases" in the App. Users who purchased the App before it became free receive Trelk Pro at no additional cost. If you exceed the free item limit (for example after a restore or sync), your existing items remain accessible; only adding new items requires Trelk Pro.
You retain all rights to the content you save, create, or import into the App. We do not claim ownership of your content. Since all data is stored on your device and optionally synchronized to your personal cloud accounts, you are solely responsible for maintaining backups of your data.
The App includes access to community-curated reading lists hosted on GitHub ("Community Collections"). By submitting a collection for inclusion in the community repository:

The App may interact with third-party services (cloud storage providers, AI providers) that you choose to configure. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of any third-party service.
The App, including its design, code, branding, and on-device AI models, is owned by Nuno Fonseca and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. The Trelk name and logo are trademarks of Nuno Fonseca.
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR REVENUE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP, REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY.
Since all data is stored locally on your device and optionally synchronized to your personal cloud accounts, we are not responsible for any data loss resulting from device failure, accidental deletion, cloud service interruptions, or any other cause. You are solely responsible for maintaining adequate backups.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page. Your continued use of the App after modifications constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users of the App, us, or third parties, or for any other reason.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Portugal, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
